Plagiarism Policy
The IOASD Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. Plagiarism in any form is considered a serious violation of publication ethics and is strictly prohibited.
Authors are expected to submit only original work that has not been copied, reproduced, or improperly derived from previously published materials. Proper acknowledgment and citation of the work of others must be provided at all times.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
· Copying text, ideas, figures, tables, or data from other sources without appropriate citation;
· Presenting another author’s work as one’s own;
· Improper paraphrasing of previously published content;
· Duplicate or redundant publication;
· Unattributed use of copyrighted materials; and
· Self-plagiarism, including reuse of substantial portions of the author’s previously published work without proper disclosure or citation.
Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts submitted to IOASDJMPS are screened for originality using plagiarism detection software such as iThenticate and other recognized similarity-checking tools.
Plagiarism checks may be conducted:
· At the time of initial submission;
· During the peer review process; and
· Prior to final publication.
The editorial office reserves the right to re-evaluate manuscripts at any stage of the publication process if ethical concerns arise.
Editorial Action in Cases of Plagiarism
If plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated content, or unethical textual overlap is identified, the journal may take one or more of the following actions:
· Immediate rejection of the manuscript;
· Request for revision and proper citation;
· Suspension of the review or publication process;
· Retraction of a published article;
· Notification to the author’s institution or affiliated organization; and
· Temporary or permanent restriction on future submissions.
The severity of the editorial action will depend upon the extent and nature of the plagiarism identified.
Self-Plagiarism
IOASDJMPS also considers self-plagiarism and redundant publication unethical. Authors must clearly disclose any overlap between submitted manuscripts and previously published or submitted work. Reuse of previously published material without proper citation or justification may result in editorial action.
Ethical Guidelines and Investigation
The journal follows internationally recognized ethical publishing standards in handling plagiarism-related concerns. Allegations of plagiarism or publication misconduct are evaluated carefully and confidentially by the editorial office.
Where necessary, investigations and editorial decisions may be guided by established ethical publishing frameworks and recognized publication ethics practices to ensure fairness, transparency, and academic integrity.
Author Responsibility
Authors bear full responsibility for the originality and authenticity of their submitted work. Prior to submission, authors are strongly encouraged to check their manuscripts using reliable plagiarism detection tools to ensure compliance with ethical publication standards.
